Hundred Years of Solitude is a novel by Colombian writer and Nobel Prize for Literature (1982), Gabriel García Márquez, now considered a masterpiece of American literature and universal. It is one of the most translated and read in English. It was rated the second most important work of the English language after Don Quixote La Mancha, at the Fourth International Congress of the English Language held in Cartagena, Colombia, in March 2007.
